The Rectory Tea Room in Morwenstow

A family business for over 50 years, The Rectory Tea Room is situated in the tiny village of Morwenstow, North Cornwall just a couple of miles from the Devon border. Run for the last 22 years by Jill and Richard Savage, the Tea Room has won several awards and has been listed as one of the best tea rooms in Cornwall.

A Traditional Cream Tea in an Idyllic Farmhouse

One of the chief delights of the Rectory Tearoom is the stunning farmhouse. Built in the 13th Century, its history is evident from the beautiful slate floor to the solid oak beams, many of which were made from salvaged timber from the many shipwrecks which occurred along North Cornwall’s treacherous coastline. Tasteful period china and photographs, snug window seats scattered with chintz cushions and open fires combine to make this tearoom the most comfortable, cosy place in which to sample some exquisite, traditional Cornish fayre.

The farmhouse garden is a charming example of a traditional English cottage garden. With flower beds bursting with a variety of old-fashioned plants all jostling for position and a rambling rose around the door, eating outside is every bit as enjoyable an experience.

Organic Food and Produce Grown Locally in North Cornwall

The Rectory Tea Room is rightly proud of its superb home cooked food, with many of the ingredients being grown and produced locally. The varied range of lunches available include homemade soups, quiches, salads and traditional Cornish pasties, and a mouthwatering selection of sandwiches, baguettes and rolls. The local cheeses, homemade jams and chutneys, fresh locally caught fish and meat reared on the Rectory farm, not to mention the most amazing homemade scones and homebaking, offer a great choice to those who have worked up a good appetite walking or sightseeing!

Children’s Menu and Wheat, Dairy and Gluten Free Food

The carefully considered choice of food at the Rectory Tea Room ensures that those with specific dietary requirements are well catered for. A range of wheat, dairy and gluten free foods is offered in addition to a healthy, appealing children’s menu.
