BREAKING: Stansted Aiport Evacuated After Bus Outside Building Catches Fire

Stansted Airport was evacuated today evening at around 4:40 p.m. local time after a bus outside the terminal entrance bursts into fire.

The shuttle service was completely destroyed and at around 5:12 p.m. local time a tweet from the airport authorities said fire has been put off and the officials are returning to the normal operations.

The authorities added all the evacuated passengers were getting screened again through security.

Four fire crews were sent to the spot, said Essex Fire Service.

A spokesperson said, “The fire has since been put out and we’re working on returning to normal operations.”

Much of the front of the airport building was smoke damaged.

Travelers were advised to contact their airlines.

It is not yet known what caused the blaze, but it is believed the fire was caused accidentally.
