In a new poll published Wednesday it is revealed only 7 percent adult Americans are in support of the US-Mexico border wall but on condition that it is the only way to bring to end the partial government shutdown that kicked off about a month ago.
The new Politico-Morning Consult poll found 72 percent of the voters surveyed are not in favor of building up the wall at a fund of about $6 billion even if it is the only way to reopen the federal government.
The survey found 43 percent of the voters are in favor of building the southern border wall while 49 percent are not.
One-third of the respondents said to support dedicated fund to border security in regard to end the partial government shutdown, but not specifically funding for the wall. About half of the voters are opposing the plan of funding for border wall.
Amid the partial government shutdown dragging into a second month the disapproval rate of president Trump sits an all-time high.
A total of 1,996 registered voters between the age group of 18 to 22 were surveyed.
The partial government shutdown kicked off on December 22 following failed attempt of Trump demanding about $6 billion funding for the US-Mexico border wall.
The Democrats refused to agree for the funding of more than $1.3 billion and Trump thereafter refused to sign any bill.
The Senate is to vote this Thursday to reopen the government.
